History & Overview
Bodog is a jack-of-all-trades company that combines poker with casino, horse and sportsbook betting. An old hat in the gaming business, Bodog has been a trusted gambling platform since 1995. Although they’ve failed with a record label and an MMA promotion business, Bodog has built a following of big-time sportsbook gamblers and casual poker players. Like other multi-gambling platforms, you’re bound to find some easy-money casino and sportsbook players at the tables.
Launched in 2004, Bodog Poker is known for its good promotions and loose play. As of last year, Bodog had an instant-play Flash feature; however, this feature is no longer available, which is not too much of a disappointment considering it was a limited version of the full software. What is disappointing is the lack of a downloadable Mac version. Still, if you have a PC, Bodog Poker has plenty of player traffic and enough game varieties to satisfy your poker appetite.
Team Bodog features two lovely ladies, Evelyn Ng and Amanda Musumeci. Former players include David Williams and 2006 WSOP Main Event Champion Jamie Gold.

Software and graphics
The software is what you’d expect from an industry veteran. They have made some nice upgrades in the graphic department over the years, and the software is consistently updated, secure and fast. The lobby is intuitive to navigate.
Bodog Poker goes for a minimalistic/futuristic approach with clean-looking tables, good card graphics and large player avatars. They have all your standard options and features along with a “spotlight on the action” that highlights you when it is your turn. I particularly like the idea of the “Game Play” tab embedded on the right side of the table. Included in this tab are the game details, player chat box, stats and notes. I also like that, no matter where you sit at the table, you will always see yourself in the center position.
Like all big poker rooms, Bodog has some loose and juicy viewed-flop percentages, some of which hover around 50-60% at the $.50/$1 and $1/$2 limits. Generally, the higher you move up in the limits, the lower the viewed flop percentage. Bodog isn’t known for its wealth of pros and card sharks in comparison to some of the other big guns, but you’ll still face some stiff competition at the mid- to high-levels.
And if you’re the next mixed games Michael Jordan, look elsewhere because there aren’t any mixed games! Competition is highly concentrated to NL Hold’em.
Tournaments and Freerolls
If tournaments and freerolls are your bag, Bodog has plenty of them running 24/7. It is most famous for its $100K Guaranteed tournament that runs every Sunday. You can buy in for a hefty $150+$12, or you can meander your way through qualifiers and satellites for as little as $1.
Qualifiers for the WSOP, WPT and other live poker tournaments run daily. Again, you can buy in for as little as $1, although you will have a steep climb ahead of you.
Looking to build up your bankroll from zero? $300 and $500 freerolls run daily and Bodog gives away over $1,500 per day.
Bodog hosts a $7,5000 PTS Freeroll on the 2nd and last Saturday of every month that you can buy into with 1,000 Poker Points, or you can qualify for with 25, 150 or 200 Poker Points.
Check out the tournament schedule to find out when you should hit the felt.
Sadly, Bodog does not yet a VIP program, but they do have a standard points program. Bodog Poker Points can be redeemed for Bodog Poker Point tournaments and qualifiers, as well as exchanged for cash.
New players start with 50 BPPs. Points are awarding by contributing a rake, playing in a tournament and with overall time spent playing.
A nice touch is the refer-a-friend bonus, where the referrer can earn up to $100 with a 20% deposit match of the referral’s first deposit.
It’s a good thing that Bodog has Live Chat because they’re poker website is lacking in information. With good software, it’s unlikely you’ll have many issues, but if you do, they have a fairly good reputation in terms of response time, friendliness and knowledge.
